The Early Years
Chiquita L Cross is a native of the tri-cites area in the Commonwealth of Virginia where she grew up in her church, St. Luke (now called Word of Life Center). Her church was also a part of the national organization Apostolic Faith of Church of God Live On where the prelate is Bishop R. H. Cross, Sr. Church was where she loved listening to the music and singing along from her seat. She began singing solo when her mother got her to sing in church at the age of 5. Although she was shy, her mother saw a gift that needed to be shared so she continued to put her up to sing. That was the beginning of her closing her eyes and singing to God.
After a while, the Holy Spirit started getting a hold of her while she was singing and right in the middle of the song she would break down and cry and not be able to finish the song. The organist, her aunt, would tell her, "You have to push through and finish the song baby."
